New Vegetable Garden

When we bought the house, this area was overgrown with weeds. We've slowly been working to put in a vegetable garden in the space. The area was full of rocks and other bits of old debris. After getting out most of the huge rocks, we rented a tiller which worked wonders. Now the plan is to put in raised beds with rock walkways.

Before shot. Photo taken July 08, 2003. Starting to clean things up a bit. A little progress... a long way to go. Jared throwing rocks. Jared digging rocks. The beginning of our rock collection. Under every big surface rock lay many buried smaller rocks. Jared fills in the holes with soil. Getting soil at Mine Mountain for the raised beds. Unloading the soil... with a spoon sized shovel. Jared is exhausted. Getting ready to start digging again. Things a little more dug up. Rhubarb roots Uh oh, Jared hits and breaks a drain pipe. We are now 95% sure it isn't used any more... we hope. progress... Rented a rototiller which was incredible. It could do the work of 8 burly men. Jared rototilling. Things are looking much better. Our upper rock collection is growing. Our lower rock collection is growing too. After two full days of work.
