The craziest packaging I've seen was at a big-box store.  They were selling Secure Digital memory cards. The ones that are the size of a small postage stamp.  Presumably to prevent theft, the they were packaged in this HUGE plastic case (the ones that are impossible to open without injury)  The ratio of packing material to actual goods was about a 100:1.</description>
