Back in 2003 I attatched my camera to the dashboard and set it up to take a photograph every minute on my commute to work at Marlboro College. This morning, I photographed my commute from Natick to Cambridge. Back in 2003, before Flickr existed, I thought it would be great to have a site with all sorts of people’s morning commutes. There are now a couple Flickr groups for commute photos. Unfortunately, they appear to not be individual’s entire commute, rather just a single or a couple photos for each individual. phpbb2drupal conversion script available

I just happened to come across this script phpbb2drupal for converting phpbb forums to drupal. At work we currently use drupal, but when I installed it (4.2?), forums weren’t nearly flexible enough so I went with phpBB just to provide forums (with a hack for LDAP authentication). I have been unimpressed with the administration aspects (users, groups, and forum permissions are all over the place) and security vulnerabilities are reported pretty regularly. With Drupal recently releasing version 4.6, I’ll hopefully upgrade as soon as the semester is over.

I installed a base install of Ubuntu 5.04 today. I’ve only looked at it for a couple minutes and so far, nothing is different enough from the previous release for me to notice. My main motivation was to see if Firewire would work. I had lots of problems with the previous release. (more…)
