Day Fifteen

Weather: Thin clouds. Mostly sunny. High 90's.

Pass around 80 huge wind turbines. Surprising for Dubya country.

Few dozen miles down the road, we pass another wind farm of around 25 wind turbines.

Did milage math, days 1-14 we averaged 216 miles per day and have gone a total of 3025 miles.

We pass a small bunch of cows seeking shade from a billboard. The advertisement on the billboard? McDonalds.

Stop at Howard College in Big Spring, TX. Ogden gets some exercise and we check our email in their library. Corin asks a talkitive guy if there is anything worth seeing. He suggests getting out of Texas. Says everyone in Texas wants to get out.

We make our way to the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. They have a special room just for dogs. So Ogden stayed there while we traveled 750 feet underground to see the amazing caverns. They have a 1.2 mile walkway which goes around the "Big Room". It's very impressive, but difficult to photograph. It's dark, and huge.

We head back into the town of Carlsbad in search for dinner and a place to stay for the night. We pick the Pizza Inn for dinner. We look at the Carlsbad RV Park and Campground, which our camping book says is good. We think otherwise, and head for the Brantley Lake State Park. We luck out, it's one of the nicest sites yet. Good views, nice places for tents, and decent bathrooms.

At the park we meet some talkative little boys and their dad from Ft.Woth Texas. It is already late so we head right to sleep.
