Road Trip 2002

Route MapDay Seventeen

Elephant Butte, NM - LasVegas, NM
Date:
06/27/2002
Distance: 316 miles
Weather: Hot and then cold.

Route 25 North most of the day. Today was a driving day although the heat was actually tollerable. (Under 100 degrees!) In the morning Corin saw a real jack rabbit and we both saw a road runner.

University of New Mexico in Albuquerque for an email check and a dog walk. Everything on the campus is outside. What do they do when it snows? (Oh. New Mexico.)

Drive into downtown Santa Fe. A quick stop at a PETCO and we finally buy the metal grate to keep Ogden in the hatchback. Maybe she will be happier with this set up.

Get some pizza and drive around a bit. The pizza place serves pizza with whole wheat dough. The town of Santa Fe is very orange with many stores and people selling things on the ground too.

Today we set up camp early enough to actually pay for our site. The state park is beautiful and incredibly WINDY! Putting up the tent was an adventure. We played a lot with O-dog and then spent some time enjoying the cool summer night (almost 70 degrees).

This is what most of the day looked like for us. University of New Mexico. Ogden made new friends with some summer campers.

Lighting for the billboard is solar powered. Santa Fe was very neat. Artsy and adobe.

More Santa Fe. Ogden gets a new toy.

Jared helps Odgen learn her commands... (Is that sit?) It is a very very windy afternoon at our campsite. Jared puts all our heavy things into the tent so it won't blow away!

Ummm, Ogden- The frisbee is over THERE. She got it!

Storrie Lake State park. Where we are camping tonight.
