Road Trip 2002

Route MapDay Thirty-Nine

Carberry, MB - Ignace, ON
Date:
07/19/2002
Distance: 426 miles
Weather: Cloudy high 80's.

Winnipeg. Not much grabbed our attention. Stopped at the Safeway for some food supplies. East of Winnipeg, the endless praries turn to endless trees.

Drove through Kenora. A traffic accident caused highway 17 to be closed. Unfamiliar with the area, and not wanting to backtrack, we took a chance and followed another car who looked like a local. After a few miles of bumpy dirt roads, we found oursevles back on route. Phew.

Stopped at a school outside of Dryden to give the dog excercise.

Arrived at Sandbar Lake Provincial Park. Mosquitoes are the worst yet. Setting up the tent Jared got at least dozen bites in as many minutes. While choosing a site, we came across two live bear traps. Seems a couple bears have been a little to friendly. Comforting.

PB&J's for dinner. Mmmm. Corin went for a quick dip in the Sandbar lake, and then off to sleep.

Long boring road. At least the surrounding land looks more familiar. Welcome to Ontario.
